GWCCA Campus to Host Over 90,000 People on Sunday
ATLANTA - (October 01, 2015) The Georgia World Congress Center Authority will host more than 90,000 visitors on campus Sunday, October 4, as the Atlanta Falcons face the Houston Texans in the Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park hosts the Foo Fighters’ Sonic Highways World Tour.

When a tornado ripped through downtown Atlanta on March 14, 2008 leaving a swath of destruction, including considerable damage to the Georgia World Congress Center, Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park, it served as a galvanizing event for weather-related emergency management preparation.
Seven years later, the Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) has stepped up its severe weather preparedness game under a new Public Safety Director/Chief of Police, earning a new seal of approval from the National Weather Service (NWS).
SISTER ACT VON GREY READY TO ROCK BREW ON THE BRICKS WITH EDGY NEW SOUNDS
ATLANTA – (August 25, 2015) The four sisters of Atlanta-based indie folk/pop/rock band von Grey have been a self-contained performing unit for most of their young lives, originally as a classical string and piano quartet playing at recitals, weddings and other formal settings. Each sibling started classical training when she turned five-years-old with lessons twice a week, but the lure of pop music came a-calling, and the sisters began to expand beyond violin, viola, cello and piano. They learned rock, Top 40, country and folk instruments, branching out on guitar, mandolin, banjo, percussion and electronic keyboards, playing songs by the likes of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Tracy Chapman.

FALCONS ANNOUNCE 2015 REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE

Centennial Olympic Park Wins Urban Land Institute 20-Year Impact Award and 2014 IFEA Pinnacle Awards

Foundry Street to permanently close; Baker Street extended into gulch
ATLANTA (May 9, 2012) – As construction progresses on the College Football Hall of Fame, residents of Atlanta will notice roadway changes near the building site. Foundry Street, intersecting the construction site, will close permanently on Monday, May 13 as build-out of the Hall continues. Baker Street, which lines the north end of the property, has been widened and extended around to the west of the site (adjacent to the railroad tracks). It now extends into the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) gulch and will provide access to the Omni Hotel and GWCC loading docks, as well as parking for the GWCC and Phillips Arena.
Final Four Semifinal Games Breaks Georgia Dome Basketball Attendance Record
ATLANTA (April 7, 2013) Fans that attended last night's Final Four semifinal action inside the Georgia Dome set a new attendance record for basketball, with 75,350 fans filling the Dome. The previous record for a basketball game was 62,046 set on March 27, 1998 as the Atlanta Hawks hosted the Chicago Bulls in one of Michael Jordan's final games.

CHICAGO (Wednesday, March 13, 2013) The Confederation of North, Central America and the Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) announced today the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup groups and schedule, as well as awarded the 2013 Gold Cup final to the City of Chicago and Soldier Field, to be played on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 4pm EST. GWCCA RECEIVES OPEN-AIR STADIUM FEASIBILITY STUDY
